Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and a singer. She is also co-starring in Prince's 1984 film, Purple Rain. She was known as the co-star of Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain, and the vocalist for the girl group Apollonia 6 Apollonia was named an actress and singer by Prince. In the '80s Apollonia was one of several other performers who gained from Prince. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model actress by the end of the '70s including an appearance on the TV show CHiPS. In 1984, she was the title of female lead for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer changed her name) as well as replacing Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 performing with them on the screen with the title Apollonia 6. They scored a small success with the film Sex Shooter, but it was when Prince performed as his duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she had a greater chart impact. Kotero's relationship with Prince ended when the pair were at odds over her future career path. Apollonia 6, the group she was part of was broke up. Kotero was in a few minor movies during this period, but reportedly declined to appear in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. In 1985-1986 she got a role in the evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. However, the R&B/dance tracks were not well received by the music buying public. The album soon vanished. The singer was still active, though not under the spotlight, as an actor during the decade following with small appearances in films and on television. An exercise DVD was made available. In 1997 Apollonia recorded a bilingual album in Spanish and English entitled Stay with Me. In later years, after going back to college and obtaining the degree of filmmaking, she formed her production company. Apollonia is an incredibly talented woman. Formerly, she was a model, singer as well as a talent management manager. In 1984, she was credited with her role as a singer in Purple Rain. Some other films and television shows she was in included Black Magic Woman and The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model. Kotero has been a part of numerous events as well as pageants. Kotero has won Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant. She was a model in the early 80s when she started in acting.
