Belknap was born in Damariscotta Maine. She is the child of David Belknap, and Louise Belknap. She was a student at Lincoln Academy at Newcastle Maine. As students in Middlebury College (Vermont), she was fascinated by the act. It was at this point that the American Conservatory Theater awarded her an MA in Fine Arts. Belknap is a part of a variety of television credits including characters in the series' regular role on Medical Investigation, Third Watch, ER, The Handler and Deadline.
